Nurturing Respect and Responsibility
At Everding Montessori School, we believe in fostering a positive and respectful learning environment. Our Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all members of our school community, including students, parents, and staff. By adhering to these guidelines, we create a harmonious and supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive.
All parents/guardians whose wards are at the preschool and basic school must strictly adhere to the following rules and regulations.
LATENESS
1. Reporting time for nursery and kindergarten is 7:00 am.
2. Reporting time for the primary Basic 1 to Basic 6 is 6:50 am.
MODE OF DRESSING
Girls.
1. Monday to Thursday: The school approved uniform and white socks and black shoes
2. Friday: Fridaywear with blue-black jeans or a skirt with the Friday wear.
Boys
1. Monday to Thursday: Blue shorts with school-approved uniform and white socks and black shoes.
2. Friday: Friday wear with blue-black jeans
HAIR STYLE/NEATNESS
1. Cornrowed all black or cornrowed with a short ponytail. All should be your natural hair.
2. The hair must be cut short and neat always.
3. Fingernails must be kept short and clean at all times.
4. The teeth and the tongue must always be kept clean.
HOME WORK
Parents/guardians must check and sign their wards homework books every day before they bring them to school.
MONEY KEEPING
No money, be it note or coin, should be given to pupils who are below five (5) years of age.
MODE OF PAYMENT OF FEES
The following are the ways through which parents/guardians must pay his or her ward’s school fees: 50% or half of the total school fees must be paid with the first week of reopening. The rest should be paid or settled within the middle of the term.
FEEDING FEES
It is compulsory that pupils pay feeding fees as approved by the school. No credit is allowed for feeding.
Note: Parents and guardians who fail to adhere to or comply with the above rules and regulations will have their wards WITHDRAWN at EVERDING MONTESSORI SCHOOL.
Our Code of Conduct:
The purpose of this code of conduct is to guide pupils as to the acceptable behavior in the school.
1. Learners are courteous at all times to staff and fellow pupils.
2. Learners greet teachers and the non-teaching staff on the compound.
3. Learners avoid running especially along verandas stairways and walkways to prevent collision with others.
4. Learners make way for staff and pupils on the stairways, verandas and walkways instead of blocking their paths.
5. Learners say thank you to staff and other pupils who help or give them presents or rewards.
6. Learners avoid making others miserable by teasing them.
7. Learners keep quiet and listen attentively whilst teaching is in progress.
8. Learners raise their hands if they wish to speak and wait till they are given permission to do so.
9. Learners do not talk nor pass notes round whilst lessons are going on.
10. Learners must be present at Assembly on every school day.
11. Learners must not drop litter anywhere on the compound except in the bins provided.
12. Learners should not use language or gesture which could be regarded as obscene or otherwise objectionable.
13. Fighting is prohibited. Any learner who is provoked must report the incident to their class teacher/Form master or mistress or any available prefect or teacher.
14. Bullying, of all kinds, is not allowed. This includes verbal and emotional bullying. The excuse ‘I was only teasing’ will not be accepted. Bullying by a prefect, in addition to the sanctions approved, may result in the prefect being stripped of his/her status.
15. The display of sexual intimacy such as kissing, fondling, being in compromising positions, etc, on the school premises is prohibited.
16. Children are not to receive visitors during school hours unless permission is sought from the office. Visiting former students should seek permission to remain on the school premises during school hours.
17. Possession and/or use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal substances on the school premises or in the vicinity of the school is prohibited.
18. Possession of knives, guns, or any offensive weapon is prohibited even if they are toys.
19. Learners must be punctual to school. The latest reporting time is 7:00a.m. Pupils who report late to school (between 8.00 and 8.20am) must sign the late Book at the Administrator’s office. Gates will be closed at 8.20am to all pupils.
20. Learners must not steal. Permission must always be sought before other people’s property is borrowed.
21. Chewing of gum is not permitted on the school premises.
22. Toys/electronic devices (walkmans, discmans, stereos, gameboys, mobile phones, etc) should not be brought to school.
23. Valuable items should not be brought to school. The school will not be held responsible for loss or damage in any circumstances.
24. Learners must not cheat or attempt to cheat during tests and examinations.
25. Extortion of items such as money, equipment, textbooks, stationery is not allowed.
26. Buying across the fence is not allowed in the school.
27. Learners must stay in school till close of school day.
Guidelines for Punishing Offenders
- Any record of late-coming will be recorded on the termly report sheet of the child.
- No second option of suspension is allowed.
- Any child who goes on suspension is counselled on his/her return to school.
- Parents will be informed if a child is referred to the school counselor.
- The above are some guidelines; however, the school administration reserves the right to determine the final punishment for any offense.
- These guidelines are subject to review from time to time.
